Tray Commander Lite is a free tray menu for Windows computers. The application installs itself onto your system tray and allows you to carry out everyday tasks with a few clicks. Tray Commander Lite is the free version of a more refined and feature-packed application, but for basic tasks, it works like a charm.
After you right-click on the green tray icon, a menu will come up. By default, only a few actions are added to the menu, but that is easily solved by going to the settings screen. The main features are shutdown, restart, and suspend your system. But the fun part is that you can add several actions to that menu. For example, you can launch any application on your system from the menu. You can also open files and launch your Internet browser with a particular URL. There are also separator lines that you can use to keep the menu nice and tidy. Writing e-mails, launching the screensaver, closing the CD tray are only some of the other actions that you can add to the menu. Perhaps this would be a much better application if you could assign particular hotkeys to the elements of the menu. But for a free app, Tray Commander Lite might be able make things easier for you.
